The Sims is aware of players experience issues with the 'For Rent' Expansion
Many players of The Sims 4 are encountering an issue that causes them to lose their save data if they own the For Rent expansion pack.
Players noticed that their save file would “disintegrate itself” and “lots start to get deleted, causing endless loading, [or] loading into empty lots or Error Codes 800/801,” according to a post on the official Electronic Arts (EA) forum posted by Crincrit, one of the forums leading helpers.
The Sims’ Direct Communications account on X shared a post on Feb. 20 stating “We’re aware of issues impacting For Rent and save files, and are investigating this further.
EJ_Flambert, who posted on the overall thread 2 months ago, stated, “This is such a devastating bug. I lost a seven-year save and revolted it only for it to happen again immediately in a new save…”
There are at least six different issues related to the corruption. Players can experience a white screen after loading, load error 800 or 801, all neighboring lots showing as default/empty instead of the correct lot, downloading a lot from the gallery and it gives you endless loading and crashing, or if your buildings are disappearing.
Each issue has its thread on the forums, if you experience any of those issues, you’ll need to follow those threads to stay up-to-date since the overall thread “is not being tracked by Maxis any longer,” according to Crincrit's notice at the top of the thread.
“This is getting worse for me and is happening on [a] pretty fresh saves of only 68mbs. It’s gotten to the point where in some of my saves, the played household lot is bulldozed every single time I boot in, with no items in the household inventory…All of my save files are impacted to some degree, making the majority of them completely unplayable or close to it,” according to undiluted on the forum.

This issue is not mod caused but it can be influenced by mods and cheats, especially if you create lots of Residential Rental units in your save game.
