Businesses & Hobbies Feature Appears Early in Recent The Sims 4 Base Game Update

The Sims 4 latest update brought more than burglars, bug fixes, and updated tattoo settings. The new unit outlines meant for the next expansion were included by accident.  In the Feb. 26 base game update, some noticed the ability to set rooms for “public and employees only.”

Iron Seagull, a known Sims 4 content creator, posted on their X account when they first saw the feature. The post was seen over 145K times.

The feature was recently unveiled in The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies gameplay trailer, so its appearance after the update came as a surprise, leading to some confusion about whether the feature was part of the base game or exclusive to the pack. You can read the gameplay breakdown here

About 6 hours later, The Sims Direct Communications account on X made a post stating that the feature would be removed in an upcoming patch.

“Our Base Game update on Feb 25th included a Unit Outlines feature in Build Mode that’s part of the upcoming release of the Businesses  Hobbies Expansion Pack on March 6th. This feature will not work without the pack & will be removed from the base game in an upcoming patch.”

Players can expect another update for The Sims 4 before the release of the next expansion. If you mod your game, check out the post on how to prepare for game updates here.

In a recent The Sims 4 update, a new feature meant for the Business & Hobbies expansion was accidentally added, allowing players to set rooms as "public and employees only." The discovery quickly went viral, with over 145K views on Iron Seagull’s post. A surprise twist, much like an unexpected turn in Drift Boss!
